Phil Reilander
Welcome!
I deeply believe in the power of stories and genuine connection. Everyone carries a story, and often, the most meaningful parts are the ones we haven’t yet had the space to share. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or tired from trying to hold everything together on your own, you’re not alone.
I offer a warm, steady presence and a supportive space to explore what’s been weighing you down. Together, we can take the time to look at your experiences with care and curiosity and begin to move toward something that feels more grounded, more intentional, and more like you.
How I work.
My approach is shaped by a deep respect for your lived experience. I work in a way that’s collaborative and steady, grounded in a person-centred and trauma-informed perspective. I often draw from Internal Family Systems, narrative ideas, mindfulness, and psychodynamic work, although what really matters is finding what feels helpful for you. We’ll figure it out together, and we’ll move at a pace that makes sense to you.
What to expect.
People often describe me as calm, empathetic, and easy to talk to. I believe therapy shouldn’t feel clinical or detached—it needs to be a real, human experience built on trust, humour, and hope. My goal is to help you feel seen and supported while offering the tools to help you move toward where you want to be, grounded in trust, and with room to breathe. If any of this feels like a fit, I’d love to connect.
About me.
Before training as a counsellor, I worked in education and communications fields that taught me to pay close attention and to listen for what matters. I’ve spent much of my life close to nature and find something steadying in the way the natural world moves at its own pace. That sense of rhythm and presence often informs how I approach my work. I’ve lived and worked in many international places, and I bring with me a deep respect for people’s complexity, strength, and the many ways we carry and reshape ourselves again and again. I’m currently completing my Master of Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University.
